Final cover for The End Of Desire: A Rowan Gant Investigation, #3 in the Miranda Trilogy.
Ms. O'Brien was not available for this particular cover, so Johnathan Minton and Woodblock Graphic Design turned to local artist Mickie Mueller.
Mickie has had her work published as covers for magazines, numbered prints, and recently produced all of the artwork for Raven and Stephanie Grimassi's Well Worn Path divination decks. She commented that this was a different experience for her, as she was used to telling people how to sit, stand, or hold something while she sketched. This time, the tables were turned.
Mickie was a trouper, bending and twisting through several uncomfortable poses for better than two hours until Johnathan obtained a series he was happy with.
Rounding out the theme, he again desaturated the photo, before adding the red hair, nails, and lips. This composite had a slight departure from the previous in that the eye was also re-colored, but to a deep green instead of the omnipresent red.
The smoke from the unlit cigarette (Ms. Mueller is a non-smoker) was added digitally and the embedded crescent moon can again be seen in the upper left corner.
